I was born July 22nd in Daejeon, South Korea.
My mother was unmarried and gave me up for adoption.
I was adopted to the US.

I recently initiated a birth search (in December with little hopes to find anything, birth search records were not well maintained until 1990)

I discovered that my birth mother died in 1998 in February. (Rare that anything was found considering that they went from Seoul to Daejeon to give me up for adoption)

Today at 4PM I found out that my birth mother’s sister has been found.  (even rarer that relatives were found considering no father named)

They have told me that they want me to write them a letter (rarer as adoption is taboo as is unmarried mothers in korea)

I really really hope I get study abroad now…. although meeting family might be a bit awkward… and i’m not a prototypical korean by appearance. too chubby but anywhom ^ ^
