Friday August 24th 2012 So basically i screwed up a bit and missed the first half of my orientation. I realized it was occurring and had to return to my dorm room to write down my id number. by the time i had returned to the hall where they were handing out orientation packets the morning session had ended. August the 22nd
000 EST (1300 KST) Woke up from home to get ready.
130 EST (1430 KST) left home for Detroit metro
300 ESt (1600 KST) got to Detroit metro 2hr 50 minutes early. I guess we could’ve left a bit later. the automated ticket thingy didn’t work with the first machine but did with the second. sometimes the advances of technology are :/
450 EST (1750 KST) Went through TSA....

Study Abroad Update #2
Last Saturday Dr. Gi Woon Yun and I traveled together to Dayton, where the Chicago Korean Consulate was having a workshop to have paperwork done for overseas. This accomplished much as I was able to renounce my Korean “nationality” and apply for an F-4 visa.
This did not occur without incident though. I had no paperwork saying that my American name had been changed from my Korean...

I have 2 options for my study abroad visa. I have to officially renounce my Korean citizenship either way.
I get a D2 visa:
Lasts during school
Officially renounce my Korean citizenship while in the US
More favorable to parents
Non-extendable
Or
I get a F4 visa:
Lasts two years
Obtain a tourist visa
Officially renounce my Korean citizenship while in the Korea
Less favorable to parents

UPDATE The only issue now is visa issues. I am working with my university and G.O.A’L to figure out my eligibility for an F-4 visa.
My draft status was clarified in this e-mail that said: You were registered as a family of one before your adoption and those registries are closed when children are adopted. You are not a citizen of Korea but of the U.S. and as such you are not able to be...

Birth Family search update
I was just contacted by AIAA that my birth mother died in 1998.
I really do not understand why I am so emotional about it. I guess it may be because i will never know some questions I wanted answers too, or get to maybe know my mother.
Apparently SWS will continue searching for my paternal uncle, so i may find new relatives from korea.
I am also wondering if SWS would continue to search for...
